ASAD SHAN
ASAD SHAN
Committed to Diversity, Equality & Justice. Putting Newham Families First.
I’m Asad Shan, your independent candidate for East Ham South—born here, schooled here, with a family rooted in Newham for over 70 years. We’ve watched Labour take us for granted decade after decade, and now they’ve crossed the line. Nearly 14% council tax hike in two years—an 8.99% rise last year and another 4.99% now while they squandered millions on secret NDAs, vanity projects, and pay-offs. They needed a government bailout after 50 years of failure, yet our streets stay filthy, potholes remain unfixed, crime is 12% higher than the London average, and Newham is now ranked the fourth worst borough to live in. We’ve been loyal. They’ve been complacent. After 70 years of my family calling this borough home, I say enough is enough. On May 7th, vote for a local voice who will actually fight for you—vote Asad Shan to
be your next councillor for East Ham South.

I have lived and worked in Newham for over 13 years, building my life and my law firm here. My daily work as a solicitor in immigration, family, and housing law has given me a front-row seat to the real struggles our community faces—from the cost-of-living crisis and housing pressures to antisocial behavior. These aren’t just legal cases to me; they are the daily realities of my neighbors. I am standing for election because I want to give back to the borough that has given me so much. I promise to lead with honesty and accountability, ensuring the council delivers practical solutions that improve safety, services, and stability for everyone in West Ham.
