Rare old Semiramis Hotel advertising. The piece is folded and appears to have been either a stationery cover, menu cover or hotel brochure cover of some type. This is from the original Semiramis hotel located on the banks of the Nile River in Cairo, Egypt. Built in 1907, it was the first luxury hotel on the Nile. It was demolished in the 1970s to make way for the current structure. The image on the front was a steel plate engraving; there is a heavy plate mark around the picture. The image appears to be a terrace dining area overlooking the Nile. I'm not certain of the age, but it appears to be early 1900s. The style of the illustration makes me think 1910s-1920s, but the details aren't clear enough to identify fashion or hairstyle exactly.
Measures about 8.25" x 6.5". Light soiling on the front. Slightly heavier on the back, but not bad. Minor corner bumping. Very good condition.
